Gentry and Klair were on their first soccer team this winter and they LOVED it. They had so much fun chasing the ball around and sometimes kicking it. Every Wednesday it was all Gentry could talk about getting to go to soccer.

We went to a friends house for Halloween this year. We had a good time!!! Shane was a deer and Aimee was a hunter. Shellie was an army girl and Jed was a nerd. Chad and I were eighties. I had a good time doing my hair!!!

New Zealand

This is the temple in New Zealand. It was so pretty. We went to New Zealand for four days just before we went to Australia. It was so fun. Just my parents and me. Just like the good ol' times-right Mom and Dad:) We stayed in a really nice hotel with two bedrooms and a kitchen. The first pictures are of us on the airplane. It was a 12 hour flight but wasn't too bad because they feed you pretty good food and we had our own entertainment system on the back of each chair. Plus my Mom was prepared and had sleeping pills for us. We went to the Skydeck where we ate lunch and it was $40.00 a person. I decided that New Zealand is pretty expensive. The nice thing about it though is our dollar is worth more there so that made it a little easier to spend the money. It is the tallest building in the Southern Hemisphere. This was our lunch and did you know you can eat those flowers? I didn't and they were so pretty and really good. Also you can dive off this building and walk around the edge so we took a picture of these people doing it. CRAZY!! It was so funny to watch them. It was windy and everything and they still did it. Another day we went to the Auckland muesem where we saw the Mauri culture and they put dances on for us. Then we went to the botanical gardens and that was beautiful. On Sunday our old stake pres. and his family (who are serving as mission pres. in New Zealand) came and picked us up and we went to the temple, had a picnic and listened to a fireside they did for their missionaries. That was such a treat to get to see them. I will post more later.

I have been wanting to take Gentry to the temple and explain a little to her so we finally went. Here it is just a few min. away and I don't think she has ever been. We talked about how this was our Heavenly Fathers home and I think that scared her a little bit. I said- "do you want to go in some day?" She said " no I don't want to go in there." She is so funny. Then we went to the visitors center and this sweet older missionary came and talked to us about the Savior. Then he let the kids go up and touch him- they thought that was pretty cool.

I was so grateful my mom came here for Gentry's b-day and of course we had so much fun. I just love my mom and miss her so much. I am so grateful we have the telephone so we can talk everyday sometimes 2-3 times a day. Thanks for all your help mom- I love you and appreciate all you do for me!!

Gentry turned 4 this year and I cannot believe it. She had her first friend party and they were so cute. We will do a friend party everyother year though. She decorated her own cake too with these edible markers. She made out good too with all her gifts. We are so proud of her and love the sweet little girl she is. She is the best big sister and loves to play, play and play some more. She also loves to sing. I'm hoping she got her poppie Welch's musical talent. We love you so much Gentry!!!

This is one of Chad's favorite things to do every year. This year I won tickets on the radio so we got to go for free. We got to go to the bull riding. We also met up with some of our favorite people- the Stokes. They are our friends from Utah and they always come down too. We just love them and always have so much fun when we get to see them!!! Also Shellie and Jed (Chad's sister) came with us and that was so fun.

We took our kids to the zoo this summer and had such a fun time. Our zoo here is not very big but its also not very expensive either. It is the perfect size for kids (and me). Then we went over and rode the farris wheel. We had such a fun time!!

Swim Lessons

This was Gentry's first year of swim lessons. She didn't like it too much at first but by the end thought it was pretty cool. She learned how to put her face under water (which is HUGE for her) and swim a little. Her teacher was this high school boy who was just awesome with them. We are excited to do it again next summer and see how far she gets then. Also at the end of the lessons for the year they all have to jump off the diving board-even if they are scared to death which of course Gentry was. But by the end she was happy she did. I asked her if she wanted to jump off again though and she was not going to do it again!!

Calen loves to play with the hose and get soaking wet. Which turns into a big mess for me. Also loves pop. He found this Mountain Dew (empty) and just kept trying and trying to get some pop out of it. He did get a few drops. And no we don't give him a bunch of pop either.

This was Gentry's dance recital from her summer dance class. They did two dances, one as a butterfly and one with a cowboy hat. She had a lot of fun. It was pretty cute and funny too. We went to Boise with the Rigby Football team this summer. Us, Aimee and her kids, Holly and her kids, and Lola all stayed in a nice hotel while our husbands and the team slept in tents on the football field where the camp was.

Chad turned 30 and I cannot believe it. Eventhough I am not 30 it still kind of makes me feel old. I can't believe we are getting to this point in our lives. We had two nights of fun with fireworks. On Friday we had our neighborhood show which is really fun. Everyone comes and brings fireworks for the show. It went on for like an hour and 20 mins or so. And people always bring the really good ones. Then there is dessert and drinks for us to share. Then on Sat. night we went to the river for the show that melaluca puts on every year. It is supposed to be one of the best. Melaluca spends about a million dollars on the show every year and the river is just packed with people coming to watch. In fact it took us over an hour to get home from it.

This is Gentry's first day of dance class. Some girls in our ward are putting it on for a month and at the end they are going to do a performance. She was so excited. I asked her to dance with me in the car to a song and she said "no mom I am dancing today not you." She loved it.

Gentry LOVES to help her Dad with the horses. Some days she gets to wear her cowgirl boots (that are about 2 sizes too small, but she has to look like her Dad) and her new leather gloves and she gets to go to the race track. She is still not really confident around the horses but she is trying!! Her Dad has to wear this mask so she thinks that she has to also. Chad is so proud of his daughter, that she likes to go out and work with him. He took the camera and was just taking pictures like crazy!! He loves his little girl.

I saw other people talking about their Dads for Father's Day and I thought I need to talk about my Dad. I really think I have the very best Dad and my kids have the best Poppie. I NEVER had a game growing up that he did not attend. He was all of our biggest fans (and loudest)!! He is a spiritual Giant and I am so blessed and grateful for his example, always. I really feel like I can go to him with anything and with any question and he has an answer or advise for me. He is so loving and kind to my children and that means so much to me and Chad. Like most fathers too- he never says no to anything. Even now he spoils me rotten. He is so giving and never expects anything in return. He loves me no matter what! I truely believe that he is the best and I thank my Heavenly Father for him everyday. It just is amazing to me that I was chosen to go to my parents here on earth and I am so grateful that I can be with them forever. My testimony of the gospel started from my parents. I am so thankful for that!! I love you Dad- I hope you know that. Wish I could have been there for Father's Day. Hope it was a GREAT day!!! Love- ME

Finally Summer This Day

We have had nothing but rain lately. Last week though we finally got a summer day. It was so nice and sure enough the next day or maybe even that night we got rain again. Aimee got the slip-n-slides out for the kids. They had lots of fun and this is the first year Gentry would even let the water touch her so I was excited. I say Gentry is her father's child because she does not like water very much especially if it is cold. Calen is mine- he likes the water no matter what.

I have never blogged about Calen and what has been going on with him but when he was about 15 months old I took him in for his 15 month appointment and the doctor said that he was really concerned because he had not gained any weight since he was 9 months old. I knew he was small but I figured it just was a genetic thing b/c I was small and so was Chad's sister Mauna Rae. Anyway, he took a bunch of tests like blood, sistic fibrosis, checked his kidneys and some other things too I can't remember. They all came back negative including Celiac (which runs in my family and it is where you are allergic to wheat and gluton, which is in everything). So after all those tests came back negative the doctor told us that we were going to have to take him to a specialist in Boise. This is our trip there. We had to be there on a thurs. and we told the doctor all about him. The next day we went into surgery where he ran a scope down his intestines. These pictures are from that morning. He had to get some medication that made him act so funny. Back to the story, Calen had not even started to walk and he was like 17 months. The doctor thought that it was Celiac eventhough the tests came back negative. A week after we came home the Doc. called and said the tests came back all negative for celiac but he still thought that he could have it and he wanted us to still put him on the diet. He said that if he did have it then he would be a totally different child in 4 weeks. It has been 4 weeks tomorrow and he has been. He has had so much energy, he has started to walk, and has had more of a personality than ever before. He also gained almost a pound which is HUGE for him. We are so thankful it is this instead of something else because there could be so many worse things. Celiac is an autoimmune desease that makes it so that your body doesn't absorb any nutriants and so that is why Calen has been so small and has not started walking. He had no muscle really. Also he just felt sick all the time from it. He pooped like 3 times a day and it was so nasty. Now just like a normal 17 1/2 month old. We just love him. He has gotten a little naughtier now though, but he is healthy and we are grateful for that. My brother Jared has this same problem and so he has been so helpful too.

We had fun decorating but it was pretty funny. I always think it is so funny because I have this prissy girl who HATES to get dirty and this crazy boy who LOVES to get dirty so Chad and I were trying to help Gentry decorate without her getting upset that she has a little stain on her hands and trying to keep Calen out of the stain and all over him. His had was blue for a few days but he thought it was the greatest thing ever to do.

So we all went out to eat at a new returaunt that Holly and Mauna Rae work at so for the first couple of nights they open the place just for friends and family and then we all get everything 50% off. So here we are excited to be there and then at the bottom here we are sick of it because we waited for 2 hours for our food. We did get a lot of food for free including dessert so we were STUFFED when we walked out. It was pretty funny though. This is two hours later!

(Which was way too short by the way) But while she was here we made a blanket for my sister-in-law and the top of this quilt for Calen. So I have to post on this new product that Chad and I were introduced to a couple weeks ago and how excited I am about it!! Valentines Day with the Roberts

Well it is never a dull moment when we are with the Roberts!! We just love them. They are always coming up with fun things to do so for Valentines day we went to Victor and played on their snowmobiles. Then we ate a delicious dinner- crab, shrimp, and a great salad. Brittany being the great host that she is didn't have just one dessert either- she had three!! Then we played some Wii tennis- which I was the champion- and guitar hero- and Lance was definatly the champion- and watched our kids make a huge mess of the house. They were having fun though and that is all that matters. We had such a fun v-day with them. Thanks a lot you guys!!

It was my family's tradition to have a treasure hunt on valentines day so this year was the first year we thought Gentry could probably handle it. We invited Chad's sister, Shellie, and her family over since Gentry and Cole are the same age and since Calen isn't old enough for it and Cole is an only child I thought it would be fun for them to do it together. Sam (the kid that is living with us) helped the kids out. I think they still had kind of a hard time figuring it out but it was still fun. We had a heart shaped pizza from Papa Murphy's and then heart everything. Plates, napkins, decorations, etc. Chad gave this rose to Gentry for V-day. He took her to the store and let her pick one out for me and her. He loves his girl!!!

Grandma Miller

My sweet Grandma Miller died last sat. February 7 , 2009. She was my last Grandma and it was so sad to say good-bye for just a little while. Chad and I were talking about how grateful we were that we know of the plan of salvation and that we know that we can see all our loved ones again someday. We kept thinking about all the people that were so excited to see her and were there to greet her. Both my grandpa and uncle passed away before her. She was really sick and we had known for a couple months that she didn't have long. I was grateful for that. I loved my grandma so much and loved the sweet lady that she was and good example. At the funeral I learned even more of what a wonderful lady she was. Everyone talked of her as being a simple lady that didn't big things but did a lot of small things. "By small and simple things, great things are brought to pass." Perfect for her. I also thought too how we impact so many people in our lives and how it is so important how we live and our example. Thank you Grandma for the example you were and I am so grateful that I know that I get to see you again. Missed you Cami and family!!

On the way home from our little trip Chad made the comment " we better get some more snow or we are going to be hurting, its the middle of Jan. and we don't have very much." I said "Don't worry Chad it will come." And it came and came and came some more. So we thought we would have some fun with it. The snow wouldn't pack very well so here we are making a jump that was really lame. Allie thought it was cool though. This is Allie and Klair (cousins)! It makes me laugh because Cami (my sister) is in Austrailia in 114 degree weather and here we are in Idaho in negative degree weather. CRAZY

Here we are in Vegas. We stopped here on our way home. I have never been here before so Chad thought it would be the perfect time. Our closest friends Lance and Brittany met us there. I was so glad that they came because Lance and Chad could go do stuff and Brittany and I could hang out. We just love them- it is always so fun when we get together. YEA for school. This was Chad's first day of orientation. For those of you that don't know Chad is going back to school. Are Youth Ranch is pretty much out of business with the economy so we thought this would be the perfect time. He is doing an on-line deal with a school in Arizona called Prescott. He had to be there for three days of orientation so he and I went down to sunny Arizona. We had so much fun just the two of us. We left our kids at home with Chad's parents. This was the first time we have ever done this. We missed our kids a lot but loved the time together. I recommend everyone do it!! Your kids will be just fine without you. We stayed at a nice hotel with a pool and workout place. Chad would go to the school and I went shopping, to the movie, watched tv and just hung out all by self!!! I would go meet up with him for lunch. Then at night we would work out, go to the pool, eat our frozen dinners and watch tv. Made me really remember why I fell in love with my great, awesome, fun husband!!

I can't believe that my baby it one. He turned one on Dec. 31st but we just celebrated his birthday yesterday. We had dinner and dessert. All the Harrigfelds were there. He had his first bowl of ice cream and loved it. He also loved the candle and tried to eat it too. He has been such a fun addition to our family and is such a lover. He loves to give kisses to anyone and everyone. He also loves his sister and only she can really get him laughing. He does love to scream at his mom too when he wants something but we have been trying to teach him signs so that he can communicate better. We did that with Gentry and it was so nice. He is definitely a boy!! He is a little small which makes his Dad nervous but I think he will catch up soon.

We had a great Christmas Eve with the Harrigfelds. Aimee and I set the table and we had French Onion soup (a Welch tradition), rolls, steak, salad and some yummy dessert. Then we just hung out and listened to the kids sing Christmas songs to us.

Today was Christmas Sunday so we got all dressed up. We didn't have much time though and as you can see Gentry's hair is a little crazy. BUT we did get to church on time and that is a huge accomplishment!! Anyway, Merry Christmas. I don't know if we are going to get Christmas cards sent out this year so here is one of the many pictures we tried to take. Not real easy with Gentry. She doesn't like to smile when you tell her to.

Happy Halloween (a little late)

As you can see chad and I were Dracula and his wife. We always have a Halloween party with his family usually we all dress up. These costumes did get a little old with all the make-up and hair.

Calen was our little ghost. He was so cute. Gentry was a fifties girl and these are her cousins that she went trick-or-treating with. This was the first year that she understood it so it was fun to take her.

So my poor baby girl got a horrible black eye. She had a big kitchen chair fall on her. She never did complain of her eye hurting. Everyone has said that she should be a boxer for halloween. It is pretty much gone now though so I guess that is out of the question.

My sister might be moving soon so this trip to Colorado was to see her and her family one last time. We had so much fun and I am just so lucky to have the family I have. My parents are so great. We had so much fun staying with them. I love my sister too and hope that if they go to Australia, they will have fun. I am not sure what I am going to do without her when I can't just call her up on the phone to get something off my mind. She is the best , and most thoughtful sister around. I love you Cami and family. See you in Australia.

I made this quilt for one of my best friends Niki Sanders for her new baby boy!!! My aunt Dorothy helped me with a lot of it but I had so much fun and can't wait to do another one. We had a girls night (all my cousins, sisters, mom and aunts) where we quilted. It was so fun. I was so glad that we got to do that while I was in Colorado this time. We had a lot of fun. I started this quilt Sat. afternoon at 3:00pm went to bed at 3:00am, along with my mom and aunt, and then got up at 8:00am to finish it by the time of the shower which was 10:30am. Crazy!!

Gentry turned three on September 13th but we didn't celebrate her birthday until we got to Colorado. She had a great birthday party with all her cousins. I tried to make a cupcake cake and it turned out totally stupid looking. I think I needed more icing. Gentry got barbies, barbies and more barbies. She love barbies right now.

We always have so much fun when we go to Colorado. My parents took us to a restaurant where they cook infront of you. They put fire on our plates and Gentry was not very sure about that.

I decided that I would try something new on Gentry's hair. I gave her a bath one night then when it was still a little damp I put a bunch of little twists in it. This is what we pulled out in the morning. I thought it was kind of funny but her and her dad and grandpa thought it was so cute. Once it calmed down a little bit it was pretty cute.
